Habitat ReStores' Got Paint!

Want to brighten the house with new colors after the holiday decorations go back into the boxes?  ReStore, both location, just received a 'bazillion' gallons of paint.  Pratt and Lambert is crowding our aisles.  All un-tinted, you can make your own colors!  So no matter what color you want, you can find the base you need to deck your halls with new color in the new year!

$6 per gallon or $20 for five gallons!

Help us Get Building

It's Hard Hat and Hammer Time with Habitat

Dig out that hard hat and dust off your hammer, Habitat is preparing to break ground at Rockview Place in San Luis Obispo November 1, 2012.  We need you to get this project 'under construction.'  With 90% of the funding in place, Habitat is putting faith in action and preparing for this three house build.

No family should have to choose between having a decent roof over their heads and putting food on the table.  We all know, reality does not always respect what 'should be.'  Make a donation now and let's get building!

Neighbors and Neighborhoods

The Art of Being Neighborly

When it comes to being a good neighbor, there are many profiles to describe that state of being.  Are you a good neighbor?  How do you know?  What makes a good neighbor?  Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County has put a lot of thought into this topic. The result is that a good neighbor adds to our experience as homeowners.  A good neighbor will put your dog back into the fence, move your trash cans off the road when you are on vacation, keep an eye on your property if you are out of town on business and just generally cares for the general welfare of the community space you have all invested in and share by proximity.

As we prepare for fall and the coming holiday seasons, needs will skyrocket, patience may plummet and the unexpected will interject into our pathways!  HFHSLOCO hopes you will take a moment to enjoy a gentle central coast breeze and remember that HOME is a word like neighbor that is hard to describe, different for each of us, but important to all.

Please remember us with a smile and if the spirit moves you, a gift.  Your cash donation is a gift for those folks who are still striving for a home of their own and the chance to be a good neighbor.

Hike for Habitat

Saturday, April 21, 2012 9am-1pm

This is our second Hike for Habitat and you are invited to help Habitat and your neighbors share a wonderful day on the Bob Jones Trail. The Bob Jones Trail is a delightful, 3 mile, multi-use trail to the sea along San Luis Obispo Creek.  Starting at the Ontario Road Park & Ride, it traverses a rocky hillside with mature oaks for shade, then crosses a golf course and the creek to enter Avila Beach and ends at the ocean.  The entire trail is flat and easy to negotiate on foot, bikes, strollers, with pets or with a group of children!  You can hike from either direction, Habitat will have Welcome Stations at both ends.  We are offering hourly 'launches' at the Avila end at the Sea Life Center where you can visit the center for free with your hike ticket and participate in an ocean habitat activity.

The trail will be filled with family friendly activities. Visit each station and receive an additional surprise at the end of your day.  Come out and hike, your day on the trail will help us cut the ribbon on our next home.  Call us for more information at 782-0687.
