Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo today announced it has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. $50,000 will go toward the construction of a new home for a low-income San Luis Obispo County family.
An additional $50,000 will help to fund Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness, a holistic approach to ensure that families live in safe and well-maintained homes by assisting individual families struggling to maintain home exteriors. At the same time, A Brush with Kindness will help to revitalize the appearance of neighborhoods, encourage connections within the community, and most importantly, help preserve affordable housing stock.
Greg Bland, San Luis Obispo-Santa Maria market president for Bank of America, said, “ Bank of America provides opportunity for all by supporting community partners such as Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo, which improves the quality of life for so many families and is key to the bank’s strategy to build capacities that truly make a difference.”
“We are extremely grateful to Bank of America” said Julia Ogden, Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County, “for their generous support of our work to build simple, decent, and affordable houses for low-income families in the county. When I served as Executive Director for Arizona Saves, Bank of America showed its strong commitment to supporting the important work done by non-profits by designating Arizona Saves as a Neighborhood Builder and proving us with $200,000 in capacity building funding. I am pleased that their commitment to building strong communities is active in San Luis Obispo County and that we have been one of the beneficiaries of their efforts throughout the country.” |
