Funds Support the Development of Affordable Homes in County
In response to the vital need for affordable housing in the County, Wells Fargo has donated $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County. San Luis Obispo County is ranked as the second least affordable small metro area in the United States by the National Association of Homebuilders, and the homes provided by Habitat allow very low and low-income families to live in simple, decent, and safe homes not often available to them. Habitat homes help vulnerable families living in the County break the cycle of poverty, establish financial security, and nurture roots in the community.
“We are deeply grateful to Wells Fargo for their commitment to helping us address the dire need for affordable housing for low income families,” said Julia Ogden, Chief Executive Officer for Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County. “The assistance of committed corporate partners like Wells Fargo is pivotal to meeting our goal of providing affordable housing throughout San Luis Obispo County.”
“Wells Fargo wants our customers to succeed financially and living in a home that is safe, comfortable and affordable is such an important part of financial success,” said Mark Corella, Wells Fargo District Manager. “We are proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity and work together to bring more affordable housing options to the Central Coast.”
Habitat for SLO County is currently developing plans for a 10-house development in Paso Robles and an 8-house development in Arroyo Grande. In addition, Habitat will be offering assistance to low-income homeowners in the neighborhoods surrounding the new Habitat homes with minor maintenance, painting, and landscaping through its Brush With Kindness program. Brush With Kindness is part of Habitat’s national Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative that helps stabilize, improve, and maintain local communities.
