Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County is excited to announce that it is currently in the plan development “phase” for 17 new Habitat homes! Nine homes will be built on Vine St. in Paso Robles and 8 homes will be built on Brisco Rd. in Arroyo Grande.
The new Vine St. homes will be located next to the 3 Habitat homes that were built and sold in Paso Robles in 2003. The new homes will be two-story, three-bedroom, 1070 square foot single family structures that will be sold to low-income families who qualify for a Habitat mortgage. Our second plan check response has been submitted to the City and we are working with City staff to finalize the plans and get City approval for a building permit. The cost for the project is approximately $1.2M and Habitat will be building the project in phases beginning with the site improvements. We will begin accepting applications to purchase a home after the site improvements are completed. Our deepest appreciation goes to the City of Paso Robles for their willingness to reduce the fees for the project by 50%. This fee reduction has ensured that Habitat can go forward constructing these homes and assisting the City in addressing its housing shortage.
The Brisco Rd. project in Arroyo Grande will also be two-story, three bedroom homes, but will be attached single family dwellings. At the current time we are in the process of hiring architects and engineers to do the design work for the project, and do not anticipate opening the application process for families interested in purchasing a Habitat home for 1-2 years. Our thanks go to the City of Arroyo Grande for their support of the Brisco Rd. project and their allocation of RDA funds to Habitat which allowed us to purchase the Brisco Rd. property
